The true problems of virtual reality do not arise from the ignorance that virtual reality will enable us to use against the negative products of society, the problems arise when Ideas adapted in a virtual space are carried over into the real world. We not only will begin to loose our own ideas, but we will loose our concept of real world communication and moral expectations. In this situation, desire for social interaction would decrease rapidly because our individual goals would seem of complete importance. Morals would also no longer be defined by our traditional beliefs.
We weren’t born with morals, we were born animals. Morals were part of the development of our mind. Right and wrong were taught by interaction with our parents, friends, etc. Virtual reality would present an environment where morals will take a back seat to desire and in the end form the chaos which I think will encompass cyberspace. We all want what we can’t have through society’s boundaries. The amount of success and positive direction in our lives is largely based off how well we can suppress our deepest desires. When we enter a realm where this suppression is unnecessary, confusion is inevitable between what is right and wrong. Without these social boundaries a collapse of social structure is very likely.

Is this the point when it becomes O.K. to leave droppings on a Wendy’s floor?
